Medieval Castles Trail

The medieval fortification from the 10th to 11th century finds significant evidence in this territory.

Ruins of imposing castles and small intact castles form chains resting on the hills protecting the Liri Valley. The Benedictine monks and noble families, such as the Counts of Aquino, as landowners, have contributed to establishing this heritage.

The last World War caused much of their destruction, but it has not diminished the charm of their existence and the legends of those who lived there in the Middle Ages. Local communities love to wear the clothing of that era and experience the medieval atmosphere along with those, like you, who wish to participate in the costume events they organize every year.
